The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is coming up on August 23rd. It’s a good thing to celebrate freedom so we love this day!
There are still millions of people trapped in slavery around the world. Stop the Traffik are an organization working towards making this history and we love them for it.
International Abolition Day – Stop the Traffik
What is the best way to celebrate this International Day? Commit to ending it. Slavery looks different today. It is in the clothes we wear, the chocolate we eat and electronics we buy. Today there are more people in modern forms of slavery than the rest of history combined. It is a $US150 billion illegal industry. STOP THE TRAFFIK is an organisation committed to preventing human trafficking and modern forms of slavery. Here is what you can do:
Educate yourself on what human trafficking is.
Sign up to the Stop the Traffik website to receive more information or like them on Facebook.
Become aware of how modern slavery impacts your daily life. Use the Australian Fashion Report and ask the people you buy your clothes from to take action.
Invite some friends around to watch FREEDOM and talk about what you have learnt and how you are taking action.
