Teenage loner Tom dreams of becoming a muso, much to the horror of his rock music loathing mother Mary. So when new neighbour and deadbeat guitarist Max Stone begins to blast rock music at all hours from the flat below, Tom secretly leaps at the chance to blackmail lessons from the suspicious recluse.

Recognising Max from former famous rock band “Nothing”, Tom agrees not to reveal the tax cheaters identity to authorities on the condition that Max mentors him for the prestigious “Battle of the Bands” competition. Bullied by his peers and desperate to overcome his performance anxiety, Tom also combats a personal battle - on what it takes to be a real rock star!
